R4R Podcast Episode 003: Rich McKeegan, Black Belts for Butterflies

In our third episode we had the honor of being joined by Rich McKeegan as our first ever in person guest! Rich is the founder of Blackbelts for Butterflies and is one of the most well-known philanthropists in the BJJ community. He started BB4BF back in 2013 to raise money for the UConn Scholarship Foundation for the victims of Sandy Hook. He then chose to start raising money for Dylan’s Wings of Change, a foundation devoted to children with autism and dedicated to his memory, who he still works with today.
In this episode we talk about:
  • His introduction to jiu-jitsu
  • The generosity of the BJJ community
  • His emotional story of the birth of his son and how Sandy Hook inspired him to give back by starting BB4B
  • Dylan (of Dylan’s Wings of Change) and the inspiration of the Black Belts for Butterflies name
  • BB4B’s future and its role in educating schools about dealing with students with autism or other unique needs
  • Details about his upcoming Black Belts for Butterflies event on May 4th and 5th, 2019
Tickets for his next event on May 4th and 5th are available here: http://tinyurl.com/bb4bf2019
Jon and I both had an awesome time attending his most recent event. Rich is a really great guy working hard to make a positive impact on the world through jiu-jitsu. It was a pleasure to have him on the podcast. -DB
