Introducing Global Grappling Day!

For years people have asked how they could get involved with Tap Cancer Out if there wasn’t a tournament near them or if they simply didn’t like to compete.

And now, with all of our Spring and Fall tournaments cancelled, competitors and fundraisers are asking how they could stay involved.

For all those questions I didn’t have a great answer…until now.

Today, I’m so excited to invite every grappler from around the world to take part in GLOBAL GRAPPLING DAY!

This is the first Tap Cancer Out event we’ve ever hosted where literally ANYONE, ANYWHERE can take part!

All you need is ONE day, ONE partner, and ONE hour to change the world!

What Exactly Is Global Grappling Day?

We’re activating our worldwide #TCOArmy to fundraise and roll for a reason TOGETHER. Participants will team up with a BJJ buddy and commit to rolling somewhere (anywhere) for one-hour straight on December 12th, 2020.

Leading up to that date, participants are asked to fundraise on behalf of Tap Cancer Out and our 2020 – 2021 beneficiaries, earning amazing perks along the way (just like our tournaments)!

Here’s How It Works in 5 Easy Steps

STEP 1:
Grab your faborite training partner and team up!

STEP 2:
Head to GLOBALGRAPPLINGDAY.COM and click on “Become a Fundraiser” to set up your fundraising page (you may fundraise together as a duo, separately, or just one of you)

STEP 3:
Share your fundraising page with friends and family now through December

STEP 4:
On December 12th, find some space with your partner and roll for 60 minutes straight. Extra credit if you livestream it on social media!

STEP 5:
Score fundraising perks like a custom Global Grappling Day patch (design is in the works), a fundraiser tee, rashguards, hoodies, backpacks, and even a free Gi!

PLUS….

We’ll be publicly recognizing the Top Global Grappling Day Fundraiser (which may be an individual or a duo) with a trophy and dedicated social media post!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I set up a fundraising page if I don’t have a partner yet?

OF COURSE! Go ahead and set up a fundraising page and start your fundraising efforts. The sooner the better.

Does my partner HAVE to fundraise and/or do we have to fundraise together?

Nope! Of course we hope you both fundraise but we know that some of you will have a partner that simply wants to help you fulfill your rolling obligation and may not be interested in fundraising.

You can fundraise one of three different ways:
— Together as a team/duo (one page, both names)
— Separately (each of you sets up a page)
— Individually (only one of you fundraises)

Where exactly is it?

ANYWHERE! That’s the best part! All you need is a little mat space and 1-hour to roll with your fundraising partner and you can take part in Global Grappling Day.

We STRONGLY urge that you speak with your professor and request that she/he block off a few hours on December 12th where pairs of fundraisers can reserve an hour of mat-time to themselves.

Do I have to be located in the US?

Nope! Our fundraising platform is global and can accept donations from any country. However, do note that donations from outside the US are not tax-deductible and international fees may be incurred by the donor.

What if I can’t roll for an hour straight?

You can take water breaks and breathers…we won’t judge you! Just do your best to keep rolling, same as trying to keep running during a 5K. If you have to walk a little, no problem! Extra credit if you record and share your roll 😉

It will be hard. It will definitely get you sweaty. But in the end you’ll have accomplished something you and your partner (likely) never have—not only rolling for an hour straight, but raising critical funds to help us take another step closer to tapping cancer out.

To be honest, I haven’t been this excited about a Tap Cancer Out idea in quite a while. It’s always been a goal and dream of mine to find a way to unite ALL grapplers around the world in a single cause on a single day.

No long drives. No weigh cutting. No butterflies. No pressure. No stress. Just making an impact in the fight against cancer through the sport we all love (and are eager to get back to).

Don’t get me wrong, rolling for an hour straight will be hard, even with the flow-est of rolls. It will definitely get you sweaty. But in the end you’ll have accomplished something you and your partner (likely) never have—not only rolling for an hour straight, but raising critical funds to help us take another step closer to tapping cancer out.

I really hope you take part. It would mean the world to me!
