In 2012, we hosted our first Tap Cancer Out BJJ Open. We invited competitors to fundraise on our behalf in order to earn their entry fee, and they responded exactly as we expected the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community would. The tournament attracted over 200 competitors, 50 of which fundraised over $17,000. After entry fees, merchandise sales and door donations, we raised over $21,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

We’re back in 2013, and we’re growing. This year we’ll be hosting four fundraising tournaments and our goal is to raise $100,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Take a look at our schedule below, and check back here for updates!

Fall:

Date TBA, NJ/MD/PA
We’re getting out of New England and heading south! Alright, maybe southern New Jersey isn’t “south,” but we have to go that direction on 95! We are still in the words to secure a location, but competitors from NJ, NY, PA and MD, keep your eyes peeled! We’ll hopefully be announcing the date/location soon. Figure it will be around September or October.

Winter:

Date TBA, Illinois (Chicago Area)
The Windy City is going to be overrun by philanthropic BJJ competitors, and it never even saw us coming! We’re working with our friends in and around the Chicago area to secure a tournament venue and date for late 2013 (when it’s nice and cold and you want to work up a sweat). As soon as we secure it, we’ll announce it here.
