San Diego – 2016

January 16th, 2016 | University of San Diego

On January 16th, 2016, we had the pleasure of returning to the beautiful campus of the University of San Diego for our second annual San Diego Tap Cancer Out BJJ Open. Thanks to the incredible support of the southern California Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community, we nearly TRIPLED our fundraising from the prior year. In the end, 80 of our 330 adult, teen, and kids competitors fundraised an amazing total of $46,111.

Special thanks to our sponsors, including GrapplingX for providing the mats and promoting our event, Inverted Gear for providing kimonos to our top four fundraisers, Deus Fight Co for raffling off a kimono to one of our fundraisers, Super Bowl Foods for setting up a delicious acai tent, Armor Kimonos for providing a free kimono to our Instagram winner, and Caveman Coffee for rewarding our fundraisers with gift certificates. A special thank you to Studio 540 for welcoming us at their gym and for everything else they’ve done for us.

Congrats to The Stronghold for winning back-to-back top fundraising team awards and to Robert Wong (The Stronghold) who set a new individual fundraising record with $7,695 raised!

Though we don’t officially have team performance awards, congrats to Outliers JJ for earning the most Kids points and The Stronghold for the most Adults points.
